What's inside: ART, illustration, fanart, slash, comics, video games, movies, history nerdness and actual srs bsns politics. Often nsfw. Sadly, no relation to Han Solo, but I draw and write Iron Empress!
So I decided to clean up and edit the photos that were taken of the new concept art at SDCC the other week because 1. I am in love with all of the art regarding this show and 2. I AM DAMN EXCITED FOR BOOK TWO. Click for larger versions
This gave me feelings. Not only is Bolin standing up for Asami, but the poor kid didn’t even really know his own dad. Mako was his father figure for most of his life. The thought of someone having a horrible father is worse to him than not having a father at all. This wasn’t just one of his goofy lines, not simply him stating the obvious for giggles. This was Bolin being Bolin, the caring and friendly guy he’s been from day one. Always standing up for what’s right, always protecting his friends, always giving me ridiculous feelings. There was just so much layered in this one line. He might not say much, but when he does, Bolin delivers.
OMG, thank you for this commentary. I know that I do have my own gripes about Bolin’s lack of lines/possible character development, but it’s little things like these that really make me appreciate who he is and how much Bryke can add with the smallest of touches. I always find Bolin’s lines to be loaded with meaning, and this one was no exception.
yes yes yes. sorry, reblogging this again for the commentary. i can bitch and hoot about wanting more Bolin all day long, but when it comes down to it… his lines truly have layers. sometimes it’s just silliness, and that’s Bolin for ya. but sometimes he says things that are just so genuine, just so heartfelt. words that take so little time but you could sit and think about where they came from for… oh, however long you’d sit around a contemplate fictional characters.
